2012 Chevrolet Malibu Teaser Video and Image appeared online
Ahead of 2012 Chevrolet Malibu appearance in the Shanghai Motor Show on April 19 followed by New York Auto Show in April 20, General Motors has released a teaser Image of Anticipated “Malibu” showing only its new Camaro-inspired LED tail-lamps.
In addition to the auto show reveals, the Malibu will break cover on the Chevy Facebook page at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on April 18.
In recent years, the Malibu has been a generally consistent and strong seller for Chevy, winning critical acclaim and high safety ratings. The New version of Malibu will feature four-cylinder engines, likely the 2.4-liter and turbocharged 2.0-liter units used in an array of General Motors products, The Malibu is also expected to share a version of the Regal’s underpinnings, which come from European division Opel. The powertrain will be completed with a line of six-speed transmissions. A light hybrid–like the eAssist setup launching in the LaCrosse and Regal this year, is also likely.
“We knew we had to really reach on this new design,” the car’s lead designer Dan Gifford said in the video. “We wanted to make it more athletic, more aggressive and appeal to people in that way.”
According to Chevrolet, the new Malibu will be sold around 100 countries on six different continents, so we can expect a unique global design that would be appealing. Check out the video below to know some of the Malibu’s overall design and hopes you comment below.
