Acer Web Surf Station(DX241H) Monitor unveiled

Acer has announced that its new Monitor, Web Surfing Station, capable of web browsing without using a PC, will be available next month for £299.

Web Surf Station is a PC monitor(DX241H) that allows users to surf the Internet and access multimedia content without connecting to a PC, all using an integrated network interface and its own operating system and browser Web site, incorporated.

The monitor has a 24-inch TFT display with full HD 1920×1080 resolution, an aspect ratio of 16:9 and an 80,000:1 contrast ratio. Acer says that the display response time of the DX241H is 2ms.

The monitor has abundant connectivity and will offer VGA and HDMI ports, Audio In/Out ports, a USB port, a card reader, an Ethernet port and WiFi. The monitor also has integrated speakers, which could be a handy feature for watching video.

The Surf Station includes Acer’s media-sharing software. is included on Acer’s laptops, phones and other devices, and lets you share photos, music and videos with the other network-connected gadgets in your house. The Surf Station connects to other devices wirelessly via DLNA, with USB and HDMI sockets also included. It has an 80,000:1 contrast ratio, with a 2ms response time, and plays 1080p hi-def video.
