Nokia C2-06 Dual Sim “Touch and Type” S40 Slider Phone leaked in India
Nokia seems to be adding a couple of more ‘Touch and Type’ mobile handset models for the emerging markets. This time it’s an S40 handset that should be launched under the Touch and Type brand.
It’s called the Nokia C2-06. That would make this both the first Touch and Type slider to come out of Nokia, and one of the few handsets Nokia makes that can handle two SIM cards. It’s telling that the images came from India, because that’s most likely the primary market this handset is meant to be sold in. If we had to take a guess we’d say it’s coming to Russia too, and a handful of Asian countries, but definitely not Europe and America.
Prototype of an upcoming dual-SIM handset, Nokia C2-06 Slider was spotted by Indian website Hackintos. This entry level dual-SIM slider was running Symbian Series 40 6th Edition operating system. This Nokia C2-06 handset has 2 megapixel camera at the back that will give you pretty entry level quality of photos.
Here are the rumored specs of the Nokia C2-06:
- Dual SIM
- Resistive Touchscreen with T9 keypad
- Slide out form-factor
- 2 MP Camera
- No WiFi and 3G
- Bluetooth menu on the C2
- Bl-5C battery
- 3.5mm audio jack
- microUSB connector
No word is available on when this dual-SIM (GSM only) touch and type family Nokia C2-06 slider will be launched and at what price.
One of the areas Nokia made a grave mistake was to ignore the Dual SIM segment which accounts for the bulk of the sales of entry level handsets in markets like India , China and Africa. The company did announce their first ever Dual SIM handset at CommunicAsia last year the – C2-00 but sadly the handset is still not widely available in any market.
