Playstation Network(PSN) down today by anonymous hackers’ act

Playstation Network PSN down today by anonymous hackers

Sony has responded to the disruption in service that many faced today when dealing with the Playstation Network. An anonymous hacking group on YouTube and on its own website recently threatened that they would take action against Sony for the legal action brought against George Hotz and other hackers involved in similar cases.

Anonymous claims it has successfully carried out a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on, the Playstation store and the Playstation Network. However a hardcore splinter faction of Anonymous has also emerged with plans to go after Sony executives, employees and their families.

One report claims that the Sony Recon group has published private details regarding Robert Wiesenthal, a group executive of Sony Corporation. It also claims that one Anonymous member asked, “No one found ANY info on Stringers kids?”, referring to Sony CEO Howard Stringer.

Rumored to be an attack from the online megamind Anonymous, Sony encountered some website delays as well as PSN downtime today. Sony has yet to claim whether this is a result of the anonymous group or not. According to Sony’s official customer support Twitter page,  ”PSN (is) currently undergoing sporadic maintenance. Access to the PSN may be interrupted throughout the day.”
