Volvo unveils Volvo Concept Universe at Shanghai Auto Show 2011

Volvo today at Shanghai Motor Show unveiled its new and thrilling Concept Universe Car,  ‘honours the beautiful lines of classic Volvo models’. It also ‘reflects the serenity in light when the sun is rising or setting’, according to exterior designer Jonathon Disley. The luxury sedan model that also provides a peek at the Swedish automaker’s future design language.

The Company hasn’t revealed any technical details on the new Concept Universe but it measures less than 5 meters in length points at a design study for a replacement for the firm’s S80 sedan and not a larger, Mercedes-Benz S-Class rival that the Swedish company’s Chinese owner Geely has been recently talking about.

Inside, it’s typically concepty and exciting. Massive slabs of wood on the doors curve into the centre console, which juts through the cabin to the split rear seats, where an iPad-like thing dangles for back-seat passengers. Touchscreen monitors replace buttons, and a dash-mounted screen erupts automatically when the driver reaches for it. And in the most obvious Chinese touch, there’s blue and white porcelain adorning the gear-shift.

Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Cars, said that the firm’s new concept model “offers the world a sneak preview of what people can expect from our next top-of-the-line sedan.”

According to Volov, the Company plans to bring the Concept in Europe as well as US ahead of bringing it in to a Global Context that the company is aiming for with all of its models. Anyway What do you think about the new Volvo Concept Universe?. check out the Images after the break.
