Google Wallet and Google Offers NFC Service announced
Finally, Google has announced its new application for mobile payments, called Wallet for Android phones. It will allow users to make payments for products or services (at outlets that support the system) with a NFC-powered mobile phone. The system will work with the Google offers, in an ecosystem of offers that will be open to all of Google’s partners in order to revolutionize commerce as we know it.
“Your phone will be your wallet. Just tap, pay, and save.”
MasterCard, Citi, First Data and Sprint have all teamed up with Google for this mobile payment achievement. Google has discovered that 92% of shopping is still made in the offline market; so they think that by seizing the online world they could revolutionize the commerce as we know it. If before we were using cards to swipe, now we’re using cards to tap.
In order to encourage growth and usage of Google Wallet, there will be benefits to using the system such as deals, discounts, promotions, and loyalty rewards. Do you need a NFC capable phone?
