HTC EVO 3D pre order starts today on Radio Shack; but release date still unknown
As of today Radio Shack customers looking for the HTC EVO 3D will be able to pre-order it in stores. As with Best Buy, where pre-orders began earlier this month the phone won’t be advertised until an official announcement is made and until then customers will only be able to order the device in advance by asking a member of staff at Radio Shack stores.
To reserve the phone you’ll need to purchase of a $50 Radio Shack gift card, and since there is still no official release date yet from HTC, there’s no telling when you’ll actually get your new toy.
Well, earlier this year the phone was officially announced with impressive specs and its glasses-free 3D screen, dual cameras and a 4G connection.
It features a 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor, a vibrant 4.3 inch qHD screen, and dual-5 MP shooters on the rear for 3D image capture.
Not only is the handset eagerly anticipated as it is one of the first 3D smartphones but it also boasts some impressive internal hardware. Inside is a dual-core 1.2GHz dual-core processor backed up by an Adreno 220 GPU and 1GB of RAM. Internal storage weighs in at 4GB and there’s also a front-facing 1.3mp camera and rear-facing 5mp camera. Powering it all will be a 1730mAh battery offering 7hr 30min of talk time. It’s also a 4G WiMax phone and you have all the goodies you’d expect from this class of device including WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and the latest version of HTC Sense.
While there’s no exact release date yet, I would expect an early June time frame to be about right. With this and the Sensation, HTC has a nice head start on ruling the summer.
Other clues that the HTC EVO 3D is on the way is its appearance in a number of adverts in print publications and leaked accessories which points to an imminent release.
