HTC Merge U.S. Cellular Release Date on May 31; priced as $149.99
Back in February we announced that the much-anticipated HTC Merge would become available through multiple North American carriers, sometime in the spring. U.S. Cellular announced via its Facebook page that the HTC Merge will launch on May 31 and may be in stores as soon as tomorrow.
It will be available on regional carrier U.S. Cellular for $149.99 on a two-year contract after rebates. Launch day is set for May 31, but units are being shipped to U.S. Cellular stores presently.
The HTC Merge has been priced up at $149.99, although we do have to point out that price comes after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a 2-year contract. As a reminder, the handset is powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7630 processor and comes with a 3.8-inch WVGA touch screen display.
Other specs include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard (ideal for those that don’t like using virtual keyboards), GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 1400 mAh battery, a 5MP camera with flash and HD video capture, the latest version of HTC Sense and a microSD card slot with an 8GB card included.
All of that being said, the Merge is basically a CDMA world-capable version of the the T-Mobile G2, which has been out since October. While the hardware might be a little on the older side, those who like their Verizon coverage and want HTC’s latest Android slider, this is the way to go. Hit up the U.S. Cellular online store to pick one up.
