Seagate GoFlex Satellite WiFi 500GB External Hard Drive to be released in July
Seagate has unveiled its new range of GoFlex Satellite external drive, The Hard Drive is coming with Battery and WiFi connectivity that lets you connect the device with WiFi enabled devices to extend the storage capacity. Devices are wirelessly connected directly to the GoFlex Satellite drive by use of the free GoFlex Media™ app—available now on iTunes and the Apple App Store—or a web browser.
The GoFlex WiFi Hard Drive is capable of 500 GB Storage, and files can be transferred either via USB 3.0 that ensures faster transfer or or with its WiFi b/g/n radio to iOS or Android Devices. The USB 3.0 cable will also continue to work with USB 2.0 ports and is easily removed for portability. Currently the Hard Drive only has iOS supported App. Android App is expected to be available by this summer but Android users can still access the content on GoFlex Satellite HDD through Browser.
The USB 3.0 cable, the GoFlex Satellite drive comes complete with a car charger and a compact wall charger. Up to three devices can connect simultaneously so content sharing with others is easy. With full charge Satellite Device can run over 5 hours of Video streaming or up to 25hrs standby.
Now Hard Drive can’be be connected via WiFi router instead needs a direct WiFi connection but Seagate promises a firmware update that will ensure the connection via mobile hotspot or WiFi router. The Seagate GoFlex Satellite Portable Hard Drive is priced at $199.99 and will be released in July in US and later this summer Globally. The Device will immediately go on Pre-order at Seagate.com, Amazon and Best Buy.com.
