Acer Iconia Tab A500 Android 3.1 Honeycomb Update leaked in China before Official release date
Waiting for Iconia Tab A500 Android 3.1 update, the official release is still few days away, but you can get it now unofficially. Owners of Acer’s Iconia Tab A500 won’t have to wait till July 5 to get the Android 3.1 update. Last week, an unofficial Android 3.1 build was leaked in China. Since then, this update has found its way across various forums including XDA Developers.
It’s Android 3.1 and adds the many features that we’ve gone over before, including resizable widgets and USB host supoort. It comes in the form of a flashable .zip file that shouldn’t really give anyone trouble. It’s multilingual and should work no matter which region you bought the device in.
This leak may come as a relief to some users as other tablets such as the Motorola Xoom and Asus Eee Pad Transformer already had the update for the past few weeks. The new software, which upgrades the features of the Android browser, also lets users resize their widgets. Additionally, USB device support has also been improved.
With all of that said, you’ll want to head over to XDA to get the goods, but make sure to read through the thread yourself.
The reports thus far state that the leak is leaps and bounds better then version it shipped with but like all things, your mileage will vary.
