Getac and Tough Corp release rugged X500 Laptop
Getac and Tough Corp has introduced a new rugged Notebook named X500, very powerful and durable design make it stand out of the crowd.
The Getac X500 sports a 15.6″ screen, an Intel Calpella i7-620M 2.66HHz processor, and is certified MIL-STD-461F, UL1604, IP65, and MIL-STD 810G. The laptop also features a sunlight readable touchscreen and high power WiFi (it allows up to 1000m transmission outdoors) , NVIDIA’s GT330M graphics card, dual Gigabit LAN, 2x RS232 (BIOS adjustable RS422) and 4x USB ports.
The device also has security features such as a fingerprint scanner, smartcard reader and is Computrace and Anti-Theft ready. The unit comes with either a backlit membrane or rubber backlit keyboard, optional Gobi2 WWAN (3.5G) and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n. The laptop is running on Windows 7 Professional.
“The X500’s large screen and built-in processing power make this truly leading-edge,” explains James Hwang, President of Getac Technology Corporation. “We have taken commercial off the shelf specification to a new level after incorporating feedback from our customers, shortening delivery lead time and lowering the total cost of ownership.”
The laptop weighs hefty 5.3 kg (11.68 lbs) and depends on the configuration. The company hasn’t revealed anything about the availability and pricing of the device.
