Ricoh PX durable and water resistant camera priced as $299
Ricoh is well-known for its waterproof digital cameras. If you are looking for a camera that can do well even in rough weather, Ricoh has rolled out an answer for you. The same reason can make you really love this new rig from Ricoh, because it works solid even under a depth of 3 meters up to one hour. According to the claims of the company, the new rig can withstand drops from a height of 1.5 meters. It is designed to target ordinary holidaymakers rather than busy outdoor professionals.
Ricoh Asia Pacific sales and marketing manager Martin Shock said Ricoh anticipates the PX series appealing to more consumers than Ricoh’s high end compact and system cameras. The PX series, which is RRP $299, also has a range of interchangeable protective covers so users can customise their camera in yellow, blue, pink, brown on white styles.
Dubbed Ricoh PX, the brand new digital compact camera comes with a 16-megapixel censor and is powered by a DB-100 rechargeable battery. To allow better preview and easy composition, it packs a 2.7-inch transmissive LCD display.
The lens touts about 5x optical zoom and capable of delivering a 35mm format that is equivalent to a 28-140mm zoom. However, the cam also features a 4.8x digital zoom so that you can better compose shots and get things over a distance without moving.
The Smooth Imaging Engine IV processor and 720p HD video capture makes it a special device apart from its tolerance to extreme conditions. Apart from face-priority multi AF and subject tracking AF, the new rig from Ricoh also includes different shooting options like continuous mode and group portrait auto release.
It comes loaded with a lot of digital filter effects options. These include party, sports, miniaturize, toy camera, sepia and black & white. Though it supports SD, SDHC and Eye-Fi cards, it has a 40MB of internal memory, just in case you need it in an emergency.
