Sony officially unveiled its new VAIO Z Series laptop in Europe, ultra-light 13.1 inch laptop is mainly focusing on business and it is more powerful with Intel’s second generation Sandy Bridge Processors. The Sony revealed full specs of the laptop in Europe today.
The laptop powered by a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 processor features 13.1-inch display of 1600×900 resolution with wide (16:9) aspect ratio, 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz SDRAM, 256GB SSD Flash memory, Intel® HD Graphics 3000 and Optical DVD drive ro Blu-ray drive. The VAIO Z also sports a Power Media Dock, which contributes the power of an AMD Radeon 6650M GPU with 1GB of dedicated memory connected via “the architecture codenamed Light Peak” and not sure if it is the same Thunderbolt.
For Connectivity the Laptop comes with WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n; 3G WWAN; Bluetooth® 2.1 + EDR; USB 2.0 x1, docking station/USB port x1 (supports USB 2.0/3.0 compatible devices); HDMI™ out (3D supported); stereo speakers with Dolby® Home Theater® v4. and for Video calling there is a 1.3MP HD web camera powered by ‘Exmor’. VAIO Z is featuring a new sheet battery that was previously used in VAIO S series and will provide power for 7 hours. The Laptop weighs under 1.2kg and running on Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1.
Sony hasn’t revealed any particular date for the release but it is promised to be released by the end of July. According to the Sony UK site, Starting price for the Laptop is £1,434 ($2,294) with a Core i5 CPU, 4GB of RAM and no PMD. and If you want the dock u will have to pay an extra £400 ($640) option with no optical drive included, while upgrading to a 1080p 13.1-inch LCD is a mere £40 extra.
