Sony S2 Dual-screen Android Honeycomb Tablet hit FCC; release date soon

The FCC recently got a glimpse at dual-screen Honeycomb clamshell called Sony S2 tablet.

The Sony S2 Dual-screen Android Tablet sports Two 5.5-inch touchscreen displays with 1,024 x 480 pixels screen resolution. The Sony S2 Android Tablet is Playstation certified and powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. The S2 tablet supports 3G/4G network and is Wi-Fi enabled.

Software-wise, the S2 will run Honeycomb… but obviously a heavily modified version of Honeycomb. Double displays on an Android install indicate multitasking, and Sony’s engineers are working hard to make this happen, as well as modify existing Android apps to work with two displays (for example, in Gmail, the client might split the message list to one display and the preview to the other).

Before you start speculating, however, there’s one more crucial spec to share: the prototypes apparently have a removable 3080mAh lithium-ion battery pack.
