Sprint to release BlackBerry PlayBook WiFi-only Tablet on June 5th for Price of $499.99; 4G Variant is still on track

BlackBerry has announced that PlayBook WiFi will be available from Sprint starting June 5. The BlackBerry PlayBook WiFi 16GB Version will go on sale in all Sprint direct ship sales channels, including Sprint Stores, Business Sales. Even though a Sprint exec let slip the carrier’s launch details for the BlackBerry PlayBook, it has just been confirmed by RIM.

According to RIM, the BlackBerry 16GB version will go on sale for a price of $499.99 (plus tax). Previously there was a report that BlackBerry PlayBook 4G variant would be launched on Sprint’s network in Summer. Confirming it, RIM also hinted that 4G for Sprint is still on track and they are together working on it. RIM also announced that Sprint will support BlackBerry Bridge with no additional data charges.
