HP has revealed the UK release date for its major tablet release, the TouchPad. Read on to find out more. Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced the HP TouchPad will launch in the United Kingdom on July 15th. The tablet will be available through HP’s online store and ‘high-street retailers’. HP has announced the Wi-Fi only tablet will retail for £399 (16GB) and £479 (32GB).HP Touchpad UK Release Date confirmed on July 15; Priced as £399 for 16GB modelReviews for the tablet have been fair, and while it isn’t as scathing as those for the BlackBerry PlayBook, the webOS-powered HP TouchPad is not going to be an iPad killer anytime soon. We do know that the HP TouchPad will have an in-house developed Facebook app just in case you can’t get enough of the social network wherever you go, and to tout some of the better features of the TouchPad, we have its integrated Beats Audio sound system as well as full support for Adobe Flash Player.

And for those wondering, similar to the US release, the version that will be available in the UK is the Wi-Fi only model. Otherwise, those in the UK will also have some additional webOS apps from The Guardian, LastFM, Warner Bros and Sky News. And for those still needing more, HP noted those as as “to name but a few.” In other words, it looks like those in the UK may be able to expect a few additional goodies that those in the US are not going to see in the App Catalog.

“What makes HP TouchPad a compelling alternative to competing products is webOS,“ proclaimed Jon Rubinstein, senior vice president and general manager, Palm Global Business Unit, HP. “The platform’s unmatched features and flexibility will continue to differentiate HP products from the rest of the market for both personal and professional use. This is only the beginning of what HP’s scale can do with webOS.”

The UK HP TouchPads will come pre-installed with some UK-centric apps too. HP states the UK models will have content from ‘The Guardian, LastFM, Warner Bros and Sky News to name but a few’.

However all of that isn’t all that makes up the HP TouchPad, there are more features that you should know about. The new tablet features a 9.7-inch XGA (1024×768) capacitive multi-touch scree, a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor, an Adreno 220 graphics chip, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR support, Adobe Flash Player support (10.3 comes pre-installed), a front-facing 1.3MP camera for video calling, a micro USB 2.0 port, and stereo speakers with Beats Audio technology.

Featuring Beats Audio technology the TouchPad integrates webOS to provide users with ‘next-level multitasking’ and improved web access. Ireland, Italy, Spain, Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore are all set to receive the TouchPad later in the year.
