BlackBerry’s QNX-powered first Phone “Colt” reportedly to come Q1 2012
It seems that BlackBerry is testing its first QNX powered Smartphone dubbed Colt. the Smartphone is expected to hit the Market early in Q1 2012 according to reports. It is expected that QNX will become a cause for BlackBerry to go back to its glory, since Android and iOS, BlackBerry has lost its many consumers to them.
Rigt now there is no much info about the platform or the device named Colt, BGR claims to have valuable source with insider on the Mysterious device. All we know about the QNX device Colt being tested is that it has a single-core processor and that it runs on the QNX platform. It seems that BlackBerry will have to make some compromises in order to launch the device on time.
The PlayBook was released without email support as BlackBerry had to rewrite its entire BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) code for it to support the QNX platform and it seems that now RIM is working on a new BES, specifically made for QNX. The first QNX device may be launched support for the current BES versions but expects support for Microsoft’s ActiveSync out of the box – so Microsoft Exchange email will be possible. The report says that RIM’s team is hard at testing the BlackBerry Colt and more info regarding to the device depends on this testing.
