Audi reveals 2011 Urban E-Tron Concept ahead of the Frankfurt Auto Show
As the name suggest, the concept is specifically designed for city traveling, the concept totally measures only 3.219 meters long, 1.678 meters wide, and 1.189 meters tall and comes with a body that’s built using a central carbon fiber monococque with a canopy that slides horizontally. The design also evoke details from their rich history of open-wheel racing and cutting-edge design.
When it comes to the interior, the E-Tron has a mixture of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer – a material that was designed to integrate the undercarriage of both seats and aluminum. The driver sits on the left and position of pedals and steering wheel can be adjusted for the driver’s comfort. Other interior details on the Urban E-Tron Concept include two large air vents, a new durable and water repellent flooring textile that was developed for athletic shoes, and satellite controls for the heater.
When it comes to the features under the hood, the E-Tron comes with a pair of rear-mounted electric motors mated through a single-speed transmission which together produce a continuous output of 20 horsepower and 35 lb/ft of torque. There is a a lithium-ion battery can push 7.1 kWh of usable energy and can be recharged in approximately 20 minutes with 400-volt three-phase current and and about an hour’s worth of charge with a 230-volt household current. The E-Tron concept will provide a 0-62 mph in 16.9 seconds and a top speed of 62 mph, you may not be impressed with that performance, but surely the concept is not at all about wow-performance anyway.
Audi hasn’t revealed anything about the production of the concept, and we can’t expect it in the near future. The E-Tron concept really looks cool and we will know more about the concept soon, so stay tuned for that.
