Toshiba Camileo Clip, X200 and X400 Camcorders announced at IFA 2011; Price, Specs and Release date

Toshiba’s Camileo line of more or less compact camcorders is gearing up for an update as three new models are being planned for a Q4 release in Europe. The incoming camcorders are known as Camileo Clip, X200 and X400, and they all feature Full HD (1920 x 1080) video recording.  The devices bizaarely don’t have internal hard drive storage but it compensates by offering 12x optixal zoom on the X200 while the X400 boasts a 23x zoom. Toshiba has yet to release information but the Camileos will be out fourth quarter of this year, at least in Europe.

The Camileo Clip is a rugged, splash-proof pocket camcorder, with a large clip on the back. The clip means you can attach it to your helmet or shirt for excellent POV action shots, or attach it to something stable to create your own ad-hoc tripod. It’s got a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor inside, which is good enough to shoot 1080p30 video. The Clip will also shoot 16-megapixel still images, and can have up to 64GB of storage using a micro SD card.

The X200 and X400 also pack a 5MP CMOS sensor with BSI tech, the include the electronic image stabiliser, mini USB 2.0 and mini HDMI ports, an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot, and a 3-inch LCD screen. The X200 offers 12x optical zoom while the X400 goes up to 23x. No prices were mentioned.

Pricing and availability were not announced for the U.S., though all three will be available in the U.K. in the fourth quarter of 2011.
