Google Maps for Android updated to 6.0 ; features Indoor Maps

Google has updated the Google map for Android to 6.0 with some cool new features like Indoor Maps to find malls and airports as well as a new Places homescreen and menu to switch between features. The update also includes  a new dropdown menu which lets you to switch between the different sub-apps of Google Maps.

You can also find out what floor of the building you are and you can see only what is around you with an appropriate adjustment of map data. The algorithm for location has been tuned finely and should work well indoors as well as outdoors according to the developers.

Right now there are a few locations where you can use the indoor maps that include Mall of America, IKEA, select Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s,  The Home Depot, Daimaru, Taskashimaya and Mitsukoshi locations and more. Airports include Chicago O’Hare (ORD), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Narita International (NRT) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), , among others. Indoor maps can also be used in some airports, train stations and buildings in Japan.
