CES 2012: Toshiba Excite X10 World’s Thinnest Tablet unveiled; Specs, Price and Hands-on

It is really exciting as the name suggests, the Toshiba’s slimmest Android tablet to date has finally been unveiled at the CES 2012. The tablet had been on rumor for a last few months and now it is official with all specs details as well as price. While comparing the tablet with others out there, the Toshiba Excite X10 is thinnest tablet in the world now at a 7.7 mm / 0.3 inch thickness. The tablet will be known as the Regza in the Asia.

The tablet is extremely slim and even beat the Galaxy tab 10.1 which was the slimmest tablet available in the market till now at a 8.6 mm thickness. The tablet weighs only 1.2 pounds (535g) it is less than Apple’s iPad 2. Eve though the tablet is ultra slim, the device offers all the connectivity and other features you would expect for a high-end Android tablet.

When it comes to the design, the device has got beautiful form factor that also features Physical buttons that you would barely notice it on the sides. The tablet is packed in a stylish cover that features high-quality magnesium alloy surface on the back while there is scratch-resistant Corning  Gorilla  Glass with an anti-smudge coating.

The Toshiba Excite X10 is powered by OMAP 4430 1.2GHz multicore processor paired with 1GB LPDDR2 RAM and features 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 (16:9 ratio) Autobrite Display, 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP camera on the front for the video call.  The tablet also features Stereo Speakers with sound enhancements and AutoBrite display technology  to improve visual experience. The display also has 10-finger multi-touch

The tablet has also got ports and other connectivity options that include Micro USB 2.0 port, Micro HDMI port and Micro SD card slot. The Wireless connectivity include Wi-Fi ,  Bluetooth, GPS and built-in compass. Other features are Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor.

Even tough the tablet is currently running on Android 3.2 Honeycomb, the tablet will be Updated to the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich after the release. The Toshiba Excite X10 will be available in two versions that include 16 and 32GB models priced at $529.99 and  $599.99 respectively. You may be eager to know the release date for the tablet though, the release date is still a mystery. We hope it is revealed sooner than later.
