Jerry Yang resigns from Yahoo Board of Directors
Yahoo has annonced that its cop-founder and former CEO Jerry Yang has resigned from directors’ board as well as all other positions of the company which he was entitled so far, especially from from the boards of Yahoo Japan and Alibaba. The Yahoo was founded nearly 17 years ago by Yang and David Filo.
It was 1995 when the Yang and David Diko founded the comp0any.Yang also acted as CEO of the company from 2007 to 2009. Yang had much criticism about for his handling of acquisition talks with Microsoft.
My time at Yahoo!, from its founding to the present, has encompassed some of the most exciting and rewarding experiences of my life,” Yang wrote in a letter to chairman Roy Bostock. However, the time has come for me to pursue other interests outside of Yahoo! As I leave the company I co-founded nearly 17 years ago, I am enthusiastic about the appointment of Scott Thompson as Chief Executive Officer and his ability, along with the entire Yahoo! leadership team, to guide Yahoo! into an exciting and successful future.”
In response to the Yang’s decision, Roy Bostock, Chairman of the Yahoo! Board said that “Jerry Yang is a visionary and a pioneer, who has contributed enormously to Yahoo! during his many years of service,” . “I am grateful for the warm welcome and support Jerry provided me during my early days here,” said Scott Thompson, Yahoo!’s Chief Executive Officer.
Yang’s resignation announcement came shortly after the PayPal’s previous president Thompson was appointed as Yahoo’s new CEO.
