Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 WP8 Smartphones officially unveiled with Specs
Finally, the most anticipated Windows Phone 8 smartphones from Nokia have been official at the Nokia Event in New York. The first one Nokia announced at the event was Nokia Lumia 900 and the second one is as expected Nokia Lumia 820. Lumia 920 is high-end smartphones with powerful specs and features as well as aesthetic form factor while Lumia 820 is mid-end device.
Nokia Lumia 920 is identical to its predecessor in design while the Nokia Lumia 820 is round edged smartphone with round corners ad slim profile. Both smartphones are packed in a polycarbonate body and will be available in variety of color for you to chose from.

Most impressive thing is that Lumia 920 is coming with PureView camera if not 41MP like on the Nokia 808 PureView. Yes of course, the Nokia is bringing its smartphone into a market where Android and iOS compete, so it has to bring something special to challenge in both specs and design-wise. Design-wise, Nokia’s Windows phones stand out from the crowed.
When it comes to specification, the Nokia 920 is p0wered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset along with 10GB RAM and sports 4.5″ PureMotion HD+ display with 1280×768 pixels of resolution, Adreno 225 GPU, 8MP camera that is capable of shooting videos at 1080p resolution and 32GB of internal memory plus 7GB of SkyDrive cloud storage.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is coming with 720p HD display technically named PureMotionHD+ that means blur-free scrolling on the curved glass display. Nokia says that it is the “fastest LCD display” with a up to 2.5 times faster refresh rate and new supersensitive touch technology,so you can use it with gloves. The Lumia 920’s display is also another ClearBlack iteration that is proven to be best display for outdoor view in direct sunlight. The display pixel density is 332ppi and offers high brightness mode of 600 nits.
When it comes to camera, even though the camera is not 41MP with PureView technology, the camera on the Lumia 920 is still above average and offers unique image stabilization technology making the smartphone standout from the crowed in terms camera performance. The image stabilization technology is called “floating lens” and almost like optical image stabilization in SLRs and more effective than many dedicated digicams. The camera also features Carl Zeiss optics and LED flash.
Nokia Lumia 920 also support NFC, LTE connectivity and wireless charging. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth V3.1 with A2DP, USB v2.0 as well as USB On-the-go support.
The Lumia 920 weighs 185 grams and only supports micro-SIM cards. Nokia has also teamed up with Virgin Atlantic and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to put wireless charging stations, so you can charge your Lumia 920 anywhere.
In terms of software, the phone is running on Windows phone 8 OS right out of the box and will be bundled with various new services such as Nokia City Lens, augmented reality app that lets you find nearest restaurants and cafe, refreshed Nokia Drive, Maps, updated hubs and system apps, etc.. The Nokia Lumia 920 is getting its juice from a 200 mAh battery and promised to offer 10 hours of talk time in 3G mode.
The Nokia Lumia 920 will be available in glossy white, yellow and black colors, but release date and availability are yet to be announced.
Nokia Lumia 820
The Nokia Lumia 820 is a mid-end windows phone 8 smartphone compared to the Lumia 920, but still offers the many features of high-end Windows Phone 8. The smartphone has a slim form factor with round corners and edges and comes with a smaller screen than Lumia 920. Even though it misses some cool features available in 920, it should still offer solid smartphone experience.
The Nokia Lumia 820 is powered by a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5GHz and packs 4.3″ AMOLED display of WVGA 480 by 800 pixels resolution with ClearBlack technology and same super sensitive touch, missing PureMotion HD+ though. The smartphone has a 1GB of RAM, 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens and LED Flash and VGA front-facing unit. The camera lacks PureView or image stabilization technology but still can capture 1080p video at 30 frames per second.
The Nokia Lumia 820 offers an 8GB of built-in storage and 7GB of SkyDrive cloud storage. Unlike many other previous Windows Phone smartphones, the Lumia 820 has microSD card slot to expand memory. The Nokia claimed that device is up to 30% more power-efficient than “competing quad-core designs” and the device gets power from a a 1650mAh battery. Like Lumia 920, the Lumia 820 also supports wireless charger.
when the new Nokia Lumia 820 is released, the device will be available in both LTE and HSPA+ variants and variety of colors. The smartphone measures 123.8 x 68.5 x 9.9mm and weighs 160g.
