LaCie Porche Design P’9223 Slim Hard Drive launched for Macs

LaCie is well-known for its design and external hard drives, and the company has come up with a new external Hard Drive for Macs. The new design is a result of collaboration with Porsche Design, the drive name is P’9223 Slim that will bring speed and a sleek, thin design to the company’s line of portable hard drives.

The LaCie P’9223 has a smooth aluminum finish body and slim profile, which LaCie claims designed to match the exteriors of Apple’s MacBook Pro and MacBook Air line of laptops, in their word “designed with Apple enthusiasts in mind.”  The manufacturer says that this is the fastest hard drive available from the company yet.

The Hard Drive combines  USB 3.0 with an optional SSD option to “maximize performance.” According to LaCie, the new Hard Drive can deliver speeds of up to 400MB/s, LaCie claims that the drive gets “even better speeds” on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro as long as the devices running either on OS X Lion or Mountain Lion.

The new LaCie P9223 Slim is thinnest at 2.5-inch thick and will be sold in two storage capacities, 500GB for a price of $99 and 120GB SSD model for $149. Both models are offered with two-year limited warranty.
