Skype launches Free WiFi Service in UK and Ireland
Skype is expanding its network worldwide, growing demand for WiFi and VoiP services, Skype has partnered with London-based Wicoms for Free Skype WiFi, which will let you log-in any participating places across UK. The service will also be available in Ireland. The service will be rolling out high High Street venues and businesses, providing free public Internet access.
Since mobile technologies have become widespread, people are depending on WiFi networks to get things done and Skype is certainly trying to make sure its presence there. One of the advantage for the Free Skype WiFi is that it allows businesses to offer better consumer care services making sure they can get connected directly.
“We believe that Internet access should be available to everyone in a simple and affordable way,”says, Skype Access program manager Shadi Mahassel. Mahassel also added that VoIP firm’s partnership with Wicoms enhances its possibility to make the Skype available universally.
The Free Skype WiFi services is available for businesses and venues in various packages. The pricing starts at £9.99 ($16) per month, plus a £49 ($79) router. Wicoms is offering companies the hardware and service for free throughout the October and retailer can discontinue while they can still keep the router at no charge.
“By working with a globally trusted partner like Skype, business owners and high street retailers can open a dialogue with potential customers and encourage sales conversion with the power of the mobile phone,” Wicoms managing director Owen Geddes said.
