Images and Specs of Sony Yuga revealed; boasting 5″ HD Display
You may have already heard about the Sony Yuga, which is expected to be next flagship device from the company, and now the device has made another appearance as a series of images in different angle. The pictures of the phablet / smartphone were spotted on a Russian website, Mobile Review, which claims to have reviewed prototype of the device in detail.
The Sony Yuga seems to feature glossy plastic body and reportedly a back made of black glass. The smartphone has a shutter key on the side and uses an on-screen buttons, so the front side looks clean and smooth.
When it comes to specs, the Sony Xperia Yuga C660X will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset and features 5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (1080p), a 12-MP camera on the rear side, microUSB and microHDMI port. The screenshot posted on the site shows the smartphone running on a 1.5GHz quad-core ARMv7 processor and a Qualcomm Adreno 320 GPU.
For connectivity, there are Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11a/b/g/n and supports as hotspot up to 10 devices. Sony can’t miss 4G LTE for such a beast. The Sony Yuga is running on Android Jelly Bean, the screenshot shows, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean as OS.
Anyway, there are some cons with the handset according to the review, first one is excessive battery usage due to the large display, and secondly an issue with getting too warm, making it unpleasant to hold and talk. The reviewer also claims to have faced constant overheating during his a month of testing.
The device reviewed was a prototype version, so hopefully, the Yuga comes out after getting all this issues fixed. You can expect the Sony Xperia Yuga at the CES 2013 and later at MWC.
