Hyundai HCD-14 Genesis concept unveiled at Detroit Auto Show

Hyundai has debuted its futuristic concept model at the Detroit Auto Show, the model named Hyundai HCD-14 Genesis concept really looks stunning and shows the Hyundai’s vision for its premium vehicle in the future

Hyundai has gone for this design from its regular models, the model is flowing from the back to front and lacks curves and muscles we normally see on regular models, but it certainly gives a an alluring premium look outside. There is a  five-bar brushed metal grille on the front, interestingly, there is no door handles, giving the model neat and clean surface on both sides, but it may not be the case for production model. The doors opn to opposite direction that  you can see in the gallery after the jump.

Hyundai HCD-14 Genesis concept is powered by an existing 5.0-liter “Tau” V8 with direct injection and dual continuously variable valve timing (D-CVVT).

The manufacturer says that the concept model has a “fluidic-precision, liquid-metal design language.”  The concept model also features an extended dash to axle length, short overhangs, large diameter wheels, and a sharply tapered greenhouse.

“We instilled HCD-14 Genesis with a premium-sport four-door coupe road presence”,  said chief designer of Hyundai Design North America Christopher Chapman. “Its sleek and lightweight silhouette does not punish the wind but used fluidic precision with dramatic surfacing that conveys natural restraint.” he added.

John Krafcik, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America said that “This success paves the way for a new generation of rear-wheel drive premium products. HCD-14 Genesis gives a hint of the design direction we’ll be taking, and an indication of the focus we’re placing on driving dynamics and technology,”.
