Kia to integrate Google Maps with its New Cars
Google is expanding its maps services to further level. KAI motors has announced partnership with Google to integrate Google Maps and Place services into Kia’s new UVO eServices telematics system. The new service will be rolling out later this year.
Kia’s new 2014 Sorento CUV models will be getting Google’s Maps and Places API and offer owners with turn-by-turn directions and points-of-interest with Google Places for assistance with locations. The car manufacturer ha also developed its own UVO smartphone app that can be connected with the Sorrento’s telematic system, so that you can have mapping data from the handset directly to the car.
The UVO also offers a hands-free phone connectivity, USB options for connecting USB devices and media players as well as other maintenance and infotainment functions including assistance and maintenance services. It is a continuation of tech companies involving with auto industry and we will be seeing more companies coming forward with such partnership for providing better services like Maps. Recently Nokia partnered with BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen, and Hyundai.
