ZTE to introduce Firefox OS Smartphone in Europe
It seems like Firefox and ZTE are to collaborate on smartphones and in talk with a European carriers. Information suggests that the company will be launching a new smartphone with Firefox OS in Brazil and later in Europe.
The new reports are more reliable, as the info comes directly from Cheng Lixin, Chief Executive Officer of ZTE USA. He also indicated that the company would unveil a smartphone running on Firefox OS in the US as well, based on the demand and consumer interest. Words from his own mouth goes like “If that is ready and if consumer studies support that data, then we may launch one in U.S. also this year.”
Vice President of products at Mozilla, Jay Sullivan has also reportedly shared that the company is working with China-based manufacturer TCL owning the Alcatel One Touch, ZTE and Qualcomm to bring the Firefox OS-powered smartphone true.
We have already seen many screenshots of the Firefox OS and the company will certainly try its best to get a smartphone market share which is mainly dominated by Android and iOS. It is reported that the company will first introduce entry-level smartphones to attract as many as consumers it can. Anyway, more details are yet to be revealed regarding its first smartphones, sometimes we could hear a little more about the first Firefox OS smartphone in the coming weeks, as the MWC is getting closer.
