HTC One goes official; Specs and Price

Finally its official, after rumors and several leaks, HTC has lifted the cover of its next flagship Android smartphone HTC One, with an aesthetic design, resembling both iPhone 5 and BlackBerry Z10 though, HTC managed to change its usual designs for its smartphones  but yet to be seen the Apple would go for another lawsuit.

The smartphone with curvy corners and narrow bezel features a grill on the top and the bottom. The smartphone is almost flat on both sides and there is a camera on the rear side with a single LED flash. The smartphone has an aluminum unibody which gives the device a premium look.

Spec-wise, the smartphone is powered by a quad-core 1.7GHz Krait 300 processor on latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset and boasts 4.7-inch Super LCD 3 display with a 1080p resolution and whopping 468ppi and 2GB of RAM.The smartphone is expected to offer improved performance up to 40%  with the new chipset. The smartphone also features  two speakers on the front  for stereo sound.

The device also boasts to be the first  to feature HTC UltraPixel camera. It is not at all about the megapixel count, if you had expected high megapixel, you are unlucky but it doesn’t mean the camera performance would be poor. The 4MP camera on the rear is promised to offer 1080p@30fps video recording as well as vastly improved per-pixel quality and low-light performance. The smartphone also features gyroscope-based Optical image stabilization. On the front you have another unit for video call.

HTC One has a rich connectivity features that  include LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4 and GPS with GLONASS.  On the software side, the HTC One runs on Android 4.1.2 with simplified HTC Sense UI atop. The smartphone will be offered in two variants of storage, 32GB and 64GB but no microSD card slot for further expansion of the storage.

HTC One gets its juice from a 2300 mAh non-removable battery and has a transparent Power/Lock key on top which also works as an IR port to control home equipment. The phone is 9.3 mm thick.

When it comes to availability, HTC One will be available in black, red and silver colors over 185 carriers worldwide including AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint in the US as well as all major UK carriers. Release date is in March, while price for SIM free version has been revealed by Clove UK. According to Clove, the device will be offered for a price of £510 that is cheaper than the iPhone 5.

Phone4U also has the device on multiple carriers on contract. HTC One on Vodafone will cost you £99.00 with a £33.00/month plan on two year contract while Orange offers the device for free on a £36.00/month plan. That is all, but what do you think about the new HC One?
