Production Model of the BMW i3 unveiled
Remember the i-Series EV from BMW aka BMW i3? Well, the company has officially unveiled the production model of the company’s first i-Series electric car. The i3 model was first displayed early in 2011 and the production model was unveiled at a simultaneous event in New York, London and Beijing today. The event took place ahead of the delivery in Europe in this November.
The basic model of the BMW i3 is priced at $41,350 and will offer 80-100 miles on a full charge while a hybrid model with a compact two cylinder engine will cost you an extra $1,150. B
BMW i3 with those batteries, paired with a 170HP electric motor is good enough to run from 0 to 62mph in 7.2 seconds, and a top speed limited to 93mph for efficiency reason.
There is a two-cylinder gas engine producing 34HP, mounted about the rear axel. According to BMW, with full battery and a full tank of gas, you can expect more than 180 miles in range in regular driving.
BMW has unsed carbon fiber to reduce the weight down to 1,195kg and inside there is space for four passengers. The car comes with BMW’s Connected Drive and 360-degree ELECTRIC systems. Check out the images below and feel free to drop your comment in the box.
