Motorola Moto X officially announced; Specs and Price
Motorola has finally unveiled its most anticipated flagship device Motorola Moto X. The device which had been on rumor for a while was completely developed under the supervision of the Google. The Motorola Moto X is the first flagship device to be fully assembled in USA and developed under the supervision of the Google .
The device resembles the usual Nexus devices unlike many Droid series from Motorola. The device has an edge-to-edge screen, rounded corners and curved back.
In terms of specs, the Motorola Moto X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with dual 1.7GHz Krait cores, Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The device has a 16GB or 32GB internal storage and comes with new Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System that brings a natural language processor and contextual computing processor.
The device has a 4.7″ AMOLED display with 720p resolution and full RGB matrix and offers 316 ppi. The screen is protected by the Gorilla Glass, also dubbed Magic Glass because of the curves at the edges of the phone. On the back sits the primary camera with a 10MP sensor, which also features the ClearPixel technology for a great low-light performance. On the front side, the device has a secondary 2MP camera for video call, which is capable of shooting 1080p video.
On the software side, there are HDR, burst shots and panorama. The device also features face detection and geo-tagging on board. The device can also shoot Full HD videos at 30fps. Other highlights include the Touchless Control, Moto Maker portal, Active Display and Quick Capture camera. TouchLess Control lets you manage your device just with voice while the Active Display making use of the the OLED screen to display various sorts of notifications and time. The device is running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
As expected, the Motorola Moto X is highly customizable when it comes to its look. You can choose from black or white front panel and 18 different color back panels.Moreover, you can customize the area called accent which include camera rim and side buttons. Interestingly, a custom message or name can also be printed on the back of the device as part of the customization.
The device is also coming with a transfer app which lets you transfer your photos, videos and SIM contacts from Android 2.2 or higher devices.
The device gets its power from a 2200mAh battery, which Motorola says will offer 13 hours of 3G talk time and up to 24 hours of mixed usage endurance. The Motorola Moto X measures 5.6 to 10.4mm due to the curvy back and weighs 130 grams.
When it comes to price and release date, the Motorola Moto X will be available from five major carriers in the USA, that include AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular and will cost you $200 for the 16GB version and $250 for the 32GB version on two year contract. If you are allergic to contract, you can grab 16GB version off-contract for $575 and 32 GB Moto X for $629. Unfortunately, the company hasn’t announced the release date, but rumors indicate the last week of August.
Meanwhile, the Google has announced that the Motorola Moto X will also be available from Google Play stores, where it would be available with a stock version of Android. hm! are you going to grab Moto X?
