New BlackBerry Z30 with BB10.2 announced
BlackBerry has finally announced its next flagship device, the BlackBerry Z30. The device is coming with a largest display BalckBerry has ever used for a smartphone, moreover, the BlackBerry Z30 will be the first to ship with newest BB 10 OS on board. Let’s take a look what it has to offer.
The BlackBerry Z30 is slim and has a round corners and flat front and back. The device slightly resemble its predecessor in design while the huge display of the Z30 is a leap from the traditional BlackBerry devices. The new smartphone from BB will be competing head to head with other likes of devices such as iPhone 5S, Galaxy S4 and Xperia Z1, even though the device is not as big as some of the smartphones.
The BlackBerry Z30 features a 5″ Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and 295 ppi density. The processor is still a dual-core clocked at 1.7GHz running on Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset and has 2GB of RAM to get your multitasking smoother.
On the back lies an 8 MP camera with an f/2.2 lens that can capture videos at 1080p resolution and for video call, there is a secondary 2MP shooter on the front which records videos at 720p, pretty impressive for video call. The device will have a 16 GB of interns storage and microSD card slot to further expand.
And for connectivity, the BlackBerry carries all the usual features like dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 including NFC. The phone is LTE compatible for faster internet connectivity.
In terms of software, as menioned above the device is running on BB 10 OS v.10.2 right out of the box. The software has got some improvements such as BB Priority Hub, message previews in the lockscreen as well as Wi-Fi Direct support.
All these features and components are powered by a 2,880mAh battery, yet the phone looks pretty sleek with slim form factor at 140.7 x 72 x 9.4mm, just 0.1 mm thicker to its predecessor Z10.
BlackBerry hasn’t announced official pricing and availability for the new BlackBerry Z30, but the company said that the device will go on sale with select carriers and retailers. In UK, the Z30 is expected to be launched next week, with retailer Selfridges’ revelation of pricing for the device, £600 and a release date of 26 September.
