Finally it is official, ever since the rumors and leaks, we had been looking forward to the release of first smartphone with Flexible AMOLED display. Samsung has now officially unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Round. The company announced its first device with the curved display in South Korea and will be available for purchase starting October 10th.

In spite of the curved display, the device looks exactly the Galaxy Note 3 in disguise with the curve. The device even has the leather-stitched back body like the Galaxy Note 3. However, the point of a curved display for a huge device is certainly unknown, we could see it as first step forward to more flexible devices to come out of the Samsung.

The Galaxy Round features 5.7″ Flexible AMOLED display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC with  2.3GHz quad-core Krait CPU and 3GB of RAM. The device has 13MP of primary camera and 2 MP of secondary camera for video call purpose. For storage, the Galaxy Round features  32GB of built-in memory and microSD card slot to further storage capacity.

In terms of software, the device is running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean  customized by Samsung’s own TouchWIz UI. Utilizing the curve the device has, the Samsung has added some tricks  such as Bounce UX for controlling the device’s Audio player by tapping sides and Gravity Effect by rolling it for interacting with the display.

Powering all these components  and features inside the curved device,  there is a powerful 2,800mAh battery, which should be enough for your all day activities on the device.

huge battery and curves though, the device is pretty slim at 7.9mm thickness and measures 151.1 x 79.6 mm. The device weighs just 154g.

If you are eager to know the international availability, am sorry ! you will have to wait. In South Korea, the device will cost you in Luxury Brown KRW1,089,000  that is about $1,000, more colors will be offered soon. The video below shows some tricks mentioned above .
