Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, a miniature with high-end Specs; Pre-order starts in UK
All major companies have launched the mini version of its flagship devices whether it is a smartphone or tablets, the list ranges from Galaxy devices to PadFone mini even Apple has an iPad mini. Now the time is for Sony, the company has launched its flagship version in miniature form dubbed Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. But unlike major mini devices, the new smartphone doesn’t borrow the term mini or compromise on specifications, rather offers identical specs to its flagship Xperia Z1 and will be offered in many colors to choose from that include Black, White, Pink, Lime, Yellow. The new smartphone was announced at the CES 2014
Let’s take close look at what the device has to offer. The Xperia Z1 Compact is built around the same quad-core Krait 400 2.2GHz processor running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and Adreno 330 CPU. The device even has 2GB of RAM making things on the device smoother especially while multitasking, don’t worry of running out of memory.
Basically Sony has managed to integrate its high-end specs into the smaller device. Goodies not over yet, the Xperia Z1 Compact also has the same 20.7MP camera with capability to shoot videos at 1080p @ 30fps and a 2MP camera on the front for video call, you no more have a blurry video chat , the front-camera is also capable of deliver high-resolution 1080p video. The camera has got almost all features you see on its bigger brother that include Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, autofocus and LED flash. The smartphone comes with 16GB of built-in storage and microSD card slot up to 64GB.
In terms of connectivity, Sony Xperia Z1 Compact has FC, A-GPS+GLONASS, WLAN (2.4/5Ghz) a/b/g/n/ac, microUSB 2.0 (MHL), BlueTooth 4.0 LE, what more you needed? and packs generous 2300 mAh battery. Other features include FM Radio, built-in accelerometer, multi-touch input, proximity sensor.
Here Sony has trimmed down the screen resolution to 720p and the battery to 2300mAh but that will balance out fine, the battery is promised to last pretty well. The Xperia Z1 Compact’s 4.3″ screen uses Triluminous IPS technology and offers 720p resolution and pretty good 341ppi pixel density.
Availability?, well, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact has already gone on pre-order in UK. Phones4u offers the device on Vodafone, EE, T-Mobile and Orange while the Clove UK has also put up the Xperia Z1 Compact on pre-order.
