Boeing Black Smartphone with high Security and Modularity goes official, not for us

Boeing that is a well-known name and mainly associated with aeroplanes, but  there has been a talk about the company in the mobile world, yes that is quite  natural when an aerospace company jumps on the smartphone bandwagon that is completely different sector from its expertise.

Recently a smartphone dubbed Black spotted at FCC with an imminent arrival. And Boeing has finally made it official revealing more about the device. The company claims that the smartphone is highly secure  as well as modular. In a description that the company posted onto its website says as follows,

“The Boeing Black smartphone was designed with security and modularity in mind to ensure our customers can use the same smartphone across a range of missions and configurations.”

If you are wondering what this modularity and security mean. Well, the company realized the need of devices designed specially for the protection of sensitive data and transmissions. So the Black is coming with a modified version of Android and additional built-in security features to accomplish that.  The the company has applied a modular design for the device via a hardware expansion port which lets users to add in various security devices.

According to Reuters, the company has been working on the device for three years.  And as a secure smartphone, don’t expect much details about the device, especially things like OEM partners manufacturing hardware, or networks offering service which are classified. So general public may not get much information about the device ,  general public may not be that interested either.

In terms of specs, The Boeing Black is powered by dual-core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and sports a 4.3-inch 960×540 display, SD card slot, Bluetooth 2.1 and LTE. Th device packs a 1,590mAh battery.

It is not a high-end smartphone like Samsung’s or Apple’s and may not attract general public much, but the company certainly has a strong base to market this device as that is the nature of its clients. The company has already started sales of the device for  its very select clientele.

And this is not entirely new thing, you may have heard about “Blackphone” which is also based on security but the difference is that it is available for people like us for a price of $629 and in terms of specs, it is a bit high-end too. you can read more about the device here.
