Jolla Sailfish OS 1.0 announced with a host of new Features
New companies and new OSs let them all come and fight each other and in the end, hopefully consumers will benefit. The Jolla new smartphone manufacturer has launched Sailfish OS 1.0. The release of the OS 1.0 is an important even in the history of the company as this is the first commercial version of the OS since the OS was announced in beta.
According to the company, it has introduced a lot of updates and enhancements as well as new features to the OS.
“We’re very excited to announce this. We’ve been working hard together with our user community to make the user experience of the Jolla smartphone and Sailfish OS effortless and distinct. We believe that Jolla now offers a truly viable option for all smartphone users. Naturally we are not stopping here, as we continue to provide monthly software updates to Jolla devices and Sailfish OS,” says Marc Dillon, Co-Founder and COO of Jolla.
The company claims the Jolla is distinctive OS with Effortless navigation and live multitasking and will offer a complete control on users’ digital life. The company is also launching Sailfish user interface launcher for Android users as an application that will give you Android users a taste of the Sailfish OS on you own Android smartphone.
The team behind the Sailfish is hard at work making the OS better every month. The OS now offers fine-tuned performance and increased battery life as well as other major fixes and features. Users can decide which app store they want on their Sailfish smartphone and download available Android apps including major social media applications, such as Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, and Foursquare.
The company also plans to expand its reach, and the Jolla smartphone will soon be available Hong Kong, India and Russia. The company promised that it is in dialogue with more European partners for potential expansion. Howoever, the Jolla smartphone is available for all users in the European Union via company’s official store. The smartphone is priced at €399.
Jolla smartphone users will get the Sailfish OS 1.0 update starting early March.
