LG announces G Pro 2  with KitKat and 5.9" display; releasing later this month in Korea

Finally LG has officially unveiled  one of its most anticipated Android smartphone LG G Pro 2. The smartphone has been on rumor for a while and finally gone official even before MWC 2014. The smartphone is successor to the LG Optimus G Pro comes with a large 5.9″ display with full HD resolution and thin bezel like  its predecessor.

The LG G Pro 2 has kept the traditional form factor  and measures 157.9 × 81.9 × 8.3 mm while weighing in 172 grams.  The smartphone will be available in three colors which include black, white, and titanium.  There are power/lock key and volume rocker  on the back of the device, just like its predecessor that makes it easy to grab a picture and adjust volume with your index finger. Despite the huge display, the company still see it as smartphone, but it is more of a phablet sits between a tablet and phone. And

Based on specs, the smartphone is certainly one of the high-end devices. LG G Pro 2 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with 2.26GHz quad-core CPU  and 3 GB of RAM. The smartphone has 5.9″  Full HD IPS display  and  16 or 32GB of built-in memory, which can be expanded via microSD card slot.

The smartphone sports a 13MP camera which boasts enhanced optical image stabilization (OIS+)  as rumored and dedicated option to adjust the focus after it is captured. The smartphone can also shoot high-quality video at  4K UHD  as well as 720p @ 120fps that is blazing fast. For video calling, there is a 2.1M camera on the front.

For connectivity, the device certainly has LTE support  apart from other usual features such as  Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, SlimPort, and microUSB port.

On the software side, the LG G Pro 2 will come with latest Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box. The company has also added many new features to its proprietary Emotional UX like Knock Code which lets you unlock the device by just tapping on the display with specific combination.

To activate these features and components, the device gets its juice from a 3,200mAh removable battery.

Finally availability and pricing, unfortunately exact release date is  yet to be revealed, but according to LG, G Pro 2 will go on sale via major Korean carriers late this month. The device will certainly be available in global market but no words on when it will be.

Meanwhile, LG is reportedly preparing a compact version of the LG G2 known as LG G2 mini and expected to be unveiled at MWC 2014.
