List of Samsung Galaxy Devices to get Android 4.4 KitKat Update, Galaxy S III missing

Samsung smartphone users all over the world  may be waiting for their sweet piece of KitKat. There was no confirmation from the company which of its smartphones in the global market would be getting the update while Samsung‘s US team released a list of  their smartphones  and tablets to get the update recently. So a blogger in Poland has reportedly got in contact with local Samsung representative and has got a list of smartphones that will be getting the update.

Here is the list

Odd thing is the list doesn’t contain the Samsung’s once flagship Galaxy S III even though its phablet version Galaxy Note II has taken a place on the list. It is said that the RAM of the device is not enough to run the Android 4.4 KitKat update, that is strange because Android 4.4 KitKat is optimized to work on 512MB RAM and Galaxy S III certainly has RAM more than that, 1GB and not only that, Galaxy Grand which  also has 1GB of RAM is included on the list.

If the argument is about the TouchWiz UI that may need more memory than the KitKat itself, still the question is how about the Galaxy Grand which only has  1GB of RAM and will still be getting the Android 4.4 KiKat update? strange though. So the reason can’t be  size of its RAM.

According  to the US list, the Samsung Galaxy S III for US will be getting the Android KitKat update, and one thing note that US version has 2GB of RAM. If you have missed the Samsung’s US list of Android KitKat update, here it is,

here is the list of the KitKat compatible tablets:

However, this could be true and the device may not find any future updates of Android just like the HTC One X for which the HTC blamed NVIDIA’s chipset. And if you are lucky enough, Samsung may find other way around to update the device with latest KitKat.
