Microsoft has announced Satya Nadella as the new CEO of the company. The announcement came in the wake of new competition and technology innovations in the sphere and his new position will come in effect immediately. Nadella succeeds Steve Ballmer who has been in the position since 2000 and will remain a director.
Satya Nadella is third CEO of the Microsoft ever since the company was founded in 1975 and he was formerly Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise division and has worked at Microsoft for 22 years, that must have earned him enough experience to lead the company ahead.
I believe over the next decade computing will become even more ubiquitous and intelligence will become ambient. The coevolution of software and new hardware form factors will intermediate and digitize — many of the things we do and experience in business, life and our world. This will be made possible by an ever-growing network of connected devices, incredible computing capacity from the cloud, insights from big data, and intelligence from machine learning. Nadella said in his own email to the Microsoft employees.
While Nedella taking the role of CEO, Microsoft founder Bill Gates will be moving to a new role as technology adviser and will be spending more time to the company.Bill Gates new position should be seen as its effort to balance Nadella’s inexperience on the hardware side.
Nadella who is 46 year old is considered a safe choice for the position and he said that he will lean on Bill Gates while running the company. Satya Nadella will also join the company’s board.
