Toshiba releases new Canvio Home Backup & Share device; pricing from $200

Toshiba has announced its new home network attached storage (NAS). The device named Toshiba Canvio Home Backup & Share is coming with  2TB or 3TB of disk storage options. The device is touted to be a personal cloud storage  as it can server both in the home and over the public network, which enables the customers control their data in terms of both hosting and recurring subscription fees.

The new Toshiba Canvio  can also be used as usual NAS device for file serving and storage  and the device also comes with backup option which makes the users life easier. The device is coming with automated backup and streaming software for both PC and Mac and mobile apps for Android and iOS devices.

“Canvio Home is a file-sharing and media-streaming device for home network users and people on the go,” said Toshiba product manager Jackie Lee. “You can centralize all your content in one place and protect it”.

Users can access their files from Toshiba Cavio Home over the internet from anywhere in the world. You can also stream audios and videos to your mobile devices like smartphones and tablets as well as DLNA-compliant home-entertainment devices.

The new Toshiba Canvio Home Backup NAS is built with gigabit Ethernet interface and a USB 2.0 port for expansion.  The PC backup software on the other side is capable of incremental backups and image-based backups and the device will be using Apple’s Time Machine technology to backup and restore Macs.

Toshiba’s new Canvio Home Backup and Share is now available on sale wiht a price tag of $200 for 2TB and $260 for 3TB.
