Volkswagen Golf GTE Plug-in Hybrid unveiled; coming to Geneva International Auto Show
Volkswagen has uncovered its new plug-in hybrid model of Golf GTE. The compact hatchback has a range of 31 miles in electric power and combined fuel economy of 157 mpg in the European Driving Cycle. The new Golf GTE will make its world debut at Geneva international Auto Show in March.
The four-door Golf GTE will launch with LED dual headlights as standard and other signals like turn signals, parking light, and smoked numberplate lighting also use LED technology. For interior, the car is coming with light blue decorative seams on its leather-wrapped steering wheel, on the edges of the floormats, on the seats, and on the shifter grip and has kept the clear relationship to its other GT series. As the exterior, the Volkswagen has changed the interior’s red accents into blue.
In terms of specs, Volkswagen Golf GTE offers a 201 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque and can reach the top speed of 135 mph with that power. The car takes only 7.6 seconds to hit 0-62 mph. The car will come with a 1.4L 148 hp turbo direct-injection TSI engine and a 101hp electric motor. In electric mode the car can reach a top speed of 81 mph and maximum driving range for the hybrid vehicle is 584 miles.
The battery inside the car takes 3 and half hour to charge fully on conventional wall outlet while from a wallbox or a public charging station the charging time is just 2 and half hours.
