Windows Phone 8.1 Update to be released in Spring with host of new features

Microsoft is working on an update for Windows Phone  and the company has announced that it will be releasing the update Windows Phone 8.1 this spring. The much anticipated update will be bringing  many new features and improvements. The great news is that the update will support all Windows Phone 8 devices.  Joe Belfiore, company vice president and manager for Windows Phone Program Management revealed the plan at MWC 2014.

The Windows Phone 8.1  will bring on-screen buttons  as well as hardware support for Snapdragon 200, 400 and LTE chipsets. Teh changes will particularly allow OEMs to produce cheaper devices which is an encouragement for OEMs to produce more Windows Phone device with competitive price tag.

Other interesting feature is capability to store your applications in the microSD card,  enabling manufacturers to produce devices with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of memory. The update will also include dual-SIM support with live tiles for each SIM and link those in the user interface.  Unfortunately company didn’t reveal more details on the Windows Phone 8.1 update, but we expect Microsoft to detail things at BUILD developer’s conference in April when Windows 8.1 update 1  announcement is also expected

The press conference was not only about WP 8.1 update, but also about new hardware partners, means the company is in agreement with more manufacturers to produce Windows Phones. New partners include Foxconn, HTC, Huawei, ISR, Karbonn, Lenovo, LG, Longcheer, Nokia, Samsung, ZTE and Xolo.
