Amazon Fire Phone goes official; Specs, Price and Availability
Finally the online retailer giant Amazon has introduced its first ever smartphone. As rumors has been out there for a long time and finally has become true. The smartphone was unveiled by Amazon chief executive at the anticipated event. The smartphone is a high-end in terms of specs and the chief executive didn’t forget to point out that the device dubbed Amazon Fire Phone outdoes Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S5.
The smartphone boasts unique 3D UI dubbed Dynamic Perspective which is achieved with four front-facing infra-red cameras that track your eyes. The smartphone features four cameras for safety, means people often covers two of he cameras, so the company opted for four. The company built this feature after an extensive testing and it is claimed to even identify a picture of a head and a real head. The device offers tilt gestures which lets you do some actions by simply moving the phone, for instance, you can scroll inside the browser by simply changing position of the phone.
The smartphone is pretty slim and looks neat in design with frame made of rubber, and there is a sheet of Gorilla Glass 3 both on its front and back and the buttons are anodized aluminum.
In terms of specs, the Amazon Fire Phone is packed with powerful specs that can compete with some high-end devices out there. The smartphone is powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core CPU on Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and Adreno 330 GPU. The device sports a 4.7-inch IPS 720p touchscreen with 590 nits of brightness and 2 GB of RAM which will make sure smooth multitasking.
The Fire Phone also features a 13MP f/2.0 camera with a five-element lens and optical image stabilization as well as a dedicated hardware button for easier camera snap. Moreover, Amazon offers free unlimited photo storage in its Cloud Drive. Just like the HTC One (M8) and Sony Xperia Z2, Amazon phone features dual stereo speakers that will offer above average sound quality. And the ear piece bundled with the device has tangle-free cables and built-in magnets to keep them snapped to each other.
The device is not just about its design and high-end specs, Amazon certainly has included its content services such as Mayday customer support and Firefly. The Mayday customer support lets connect with Amazon representative for help to fix any issues on board the Fire phone.The service offers a fast response at 9.75 seconds, so you won’t have to be bored holding on. On the other hand, the Firefly is automatic system which can recognize what the camera is looking at such as books, DVD or QR code and even sounds the device listens to. According to Amazon, it can recognize over 1,000,000 items and as Amazon finds the feature so important , there is even a dedicated button on the left which lets you easily open the app.
Finally its availability and pricing. The Amazon Fire Phone with 32 GB is priced at $199.99, yes certainly with a two-year contract on AT&T and customers on other carriers may not have the opportunity to buy it yet. The carrier will also offer 64 GB version for price of $299.99.
