Samsung Galaxy S5 mini goes official; retains all S5 Sensors
Samsung has finally unveiled the next most anticipated smartphone from the company, the Galaxy S5 mini. The compact version of the flagship Galaxy S5 looks exactly like its bigger brother, the specs are not that high-end though. But the device keeps its trademark features and design.
The device is IP67 certified, which means the device is completely dust-proof and can stand under water up to a meter for half an hour. Moreover, the Samsung has this time managed to make the microUSB port water resistant too, so there is no more flap to cover the port.
Design-wise, the Galaxy S5 mini looks exactly like its bigger brother boasting perforated leather back panel and offers a heart rate monitor. The smartphone also keeps the Home key which also works as a fingerprint reader.
In terms of hardware specs, the Galaxy S5 mini is powered by four Cortex-A7 cores running at 1.4GHz and 1.5GB of RAM. The device is certainly not so mini, with 4.5″ display the device certainly offers enough space to do your job on the screen and the display technology is Super AMOLED with 720p resolution. Great thing about the display is that the pixel density of the device has got bumped to 326ppi from its predecessor which was 256ppi
The Galaxy S5 mini also features 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot. The smartphone has 8MP camera capable of capturing videos at 1080p @ 30fps and the device has retained the Shot & more and Virtual Tour modes from the big Galaxy S5 as well as the S Studio editor.
For connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini offers LTE boosted up to 150Mbps and Bluetooth 4.0 with LE support. The smartphone will be offered in four different colors which include Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold.
Finally pricing and availability. Unfortunately,there is no exact release date and pricing details for Galaxy S5 mini, but the company promises to roll out starting early July in Russia and expand its availability to the global market.
