Windows 8.1 Update 2 reportedly to be released on August 12
Windows recently released a major update for its Windows 8 called Windows 8.1 Update 1 and now it seems that next major update is on the way. If the recent reports and rumors are true, the update will be hitting the device on August 12th. There has already been rumors that the company is working on an update but there was no exact date. This is the first time someone has come with a date of the update release.
The report on Windows 8.1 update 2 release date appeared on a Russian site called PCPortal.org.ru. The site claims the update will be released on August 12th and the reliability of the site is not in question as the site’s track record has been good so far. And many online outlets also believe the rumor can be true.
Interestingly the August 12th coincides to be the Patch Tuesday of Microsoft, which is second Tuesday of each month that Microsoft releases bug fixes and new patches on.
when it comes to features on the update, there are conflicting reports. Although the update is expected to bring some improvements and bug fixes, it could turn out to be just bug fixes and some performance tweaks other than major new features as the company’s focus is now on bigger Windows 9 debut.
One of the major changes attached to Windows 8.1 Update 2 is return of the Start Menu, but some other reports suggest that return is not due till Windows 9 debut.
