Samsung unveils Gear S 3G Smartwatch; running on Tizen OS
Samsung has officially announced its next generation Gear S smartwatch. The new wearable device is coming with built-in 3G connectivity and boasts Samsung’s Tizen software on board. Things seem to be changing and in the near future these smart devices could completely replace your smartphone.
Samsung Gear S wearable can actually be paired with your smartphone and control some functionality of your phone from the watch display in your hand and even sync data with your phone. The smart-watch can also answer phone calls via optional neck accessory called Samsung Gear Circle.
In terms of specs, the Gear S is equipped with 2” curved Super AMOLED display of 480 x 360 pixels resolution. The watch is powered by a 1GHz dual-core CPU and 512MB of RAM also offers 4GB of built-in memory,a hist of connectivity suite including quad-band 2G/3G, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, GPS/GLONASS, and USB 2.0.
Other features include sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, ambient light sensor, and heart rate monitor. The device packs a 300mAh battery that is said to last about 2 days. Moreover, the new OS comes with a bundle of apps including weather, news, navigation, and calendar apps.
And don’t worry of water and dust, as the new Gear S is coming with IP67, means it is dust and water resistant and offer more protection. And the device measures in 39.8 x 58.3 x 12.5mm.
