Seagate introduces World’s First 8TB HDD for Data Centers

Who knew someone would come up with a desktop hard drive of 8TB !. Yes Seagate has introduced first hard drive with 8TB of storage that should be more than enough for your whole lot of data.

The 8TB hard drive offers a bulk data storage solution for enterprise users, making data centers more efficient. The hard drive is claimed to use fewer components for increased system and staffing efficiencies with low power consumption thus reducing overall costs.

“Seagate’s new 8TB HDD provides IT managers with a new option for improving storage density in the data center, thus helping them to tackle one of the largest and fastest growing data categories within enterprise storage economically,” Scott Horn, Seagate’s VP of marketing said.

The hard drive measure 3.5 inch  and promised to offer maximum rack density. However, the hard drive is not ready to fit in your PC .The 8TB drive is now aimed at data centers where more efficiency and bulk storage capacity are needed.

According to Seagate, the massive storage is already shipping to select customers  and will be available in the market by the end of this year. Unfortunately, the company hasn’t revealed the pricing for the HDD.
