T-Mobile Xperia Z1s getting Android 4.4.4 KitKat, not OTA
Sony’s flagship Xperia Z1 got its update globally back in March, but users on T-Mobile have been stuck with its Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and been expecting to get the KitKat update. Surprisingly, it seems that the company has heard your cries and complaints. The company has finally started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for T-Mobile Xperia Z1s.
Odd thing is that the update unlike usual Android updates, needs your system with Sony’s PC Companion software for updating your device. However, your phone may notify you about the update but will ask you to connect to a PC. Interesting thing about the update is that your device will directly get the latest of the Android, version 4.4.4, so it is worth waiting.
After the update, make sure you are on build number 14.4.B.0.37. The update will bring a host of improvements and features some which include new theme, a customized keyboard, transparent navigation and status bar and new launcher. The upgrade will also add a bunch of upgraded Sony apps including new Sony Media apps and more responsive touchscreen.
Sony launched the smartphone back at CES 2014. The device was running on Android 4.3 right out of the box.
