Meizu MX4 with 5.36” IPS Display launched in China; Specs and Price
Folks at Meizu has finally unveiled their most anticipated Android smartphone, Meizu MX4. The smartphone is its first octa-core device with 4G capability. And as rumored, the device comes with high-resolution display coupled with scratch proof glass.
Meizu MX4 is a premium device with of aluminum-magnesium alloy body. The device is pretty thin as well measuring 144 x 75.2 x 8.9 mm and weighs in 147g. The device will be offered in variety of colors, including white, gold and gray. The phone has a round corner and slightly curvy edge so that you should feel comfortable in your hand.
In terms of specifications, the Meizu MX4 is built around MediaTek MT6595 chipset running an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A17 cores @ 2.2GHz and four Cortex-A7 cores @ 1.7GHz cores. The company actually switched to MediaTek from Samsung’s Exynos. The phone has powerful quad-core PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM that should make things smoother on the screen.
The phone sports a 5.36″ display with1920 x 1152 resolution and boasts three key features 1100:1 contrast, 500cd/m2 brightness and 85% NTSC color gamut. The screen offers an aspect of 15:9, but the bottom row of additional goes for Meizu’s Flyme 4.0, thus leaving 1080p for apps. The device runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Flyme 4.0 atop.
In the camera department, there has been a noticeable upgrade. The device now rocks a 20.7MP Sony Exmor RS sensor with dual-LED dual-tone flash that will offer better low-light images. Thanks to the Gorilla Glass, camera lens itself is protected, so no worries about scratches in any severe condition. Moreover, the camera is capable of capturing videos at high-resolution 4K videos at 30 fps and should also offer more natural imaging. There is a 2MP front-facing camera, shooting 1080p video.
And the device is also coming with a host of connectivity features including Cat.4 LTE. Other connectivity features include 3G with HSPA, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and support for all GPS-like global positioning systems. And powering all these features is a hefty 3,100 mAh battery and will be offered in three storage options which include 16, 32 and 64 GB.
Finally availability and release date. Meizu MX4 is already available on pre-order in China, and will be shipping around September 20th. The phone is priced at about $293 for the 16 GB, $325 for the 32 GB and $390 for the 64 GB.
